Deconstructed blue jeans and shirts of my recently deceased son, Hart, are mixed with my silk scraps to explore our relationship. Each square is a mini-quilt telling its own story. The O and X, common symbols of affection, were accidental designs as the squares emerged. The three French knots on each square symbolize love. The ‘darning patch’ represents forgiveness—from parent to child and vice versa. The delicate, yet dense, stitching on each square shows the ebb and flow of life: the delicate and challenging acts of loving and letting go.
