I am enamored by colorful piles of discarded single-use plastic bags. I made these the focus of my artistic dialogue, focusing on the patterns and shapes created by the text and logo designs printed on the bags. I draw from the tradition of quilts from Amish communities for patterns. I am inspired to take a traditional pattern, play with a nontraditional material disconnected to the Amish tradition, and create something that provides the viewer with commentary on the modern world.
