Dancing With Duchamp

Commercial and hand-dyed cotton. Fabric, wool batting, polyester thread.

61” x 52″ x 1″

Dancing With Duchamp is one in a series based on movement and dance. It is an improvisational quilt inspired by a Duchamp painting I saw at MOMA in NYC. Duchamp’s early works are some of the first to depict motion, similar to motion pictures. It represented a break from the Impressionist focus on light. This quilt creates a dance of line, shape and color in honor of the artist.
